I’m a Weirdo—How About You?
I’m not “normal.” I’ve always been the odd one out. Even as a child I was the super-shy girl who rarely spoke to humans and wore off-brand uniform skirts in Catholic school. While everyone else played a C clarinet in our school orchestra, I played an A-flat clarinet that my parents found at a garage sale.
And it didn’t end with childhood. The weirdness goes on: I’m the vegan at the family BBQ (1 – 3% of the U.S. population). The INFP listening to tree whispers at a wine-tasting party (4.4%). The empath feeling the feels of the world (2%). Enneagram type 5 seeking depth in a world chasing clickbait (4.8%). Human Design Projector trying to rest while the world sprints past ( 20%). Celtic pagan in a culture obsessed with fundamentalist Christianity (less than 1%). A faery seer who listens when the wind speaks (not even included in polls!).
Yeah… I know how to clear a room. LOL.
Well, I’m not exactly intimidating, but I often make “normal” people uncomfortable, because I see things they don’t see.
A World that Doesn’t Fit!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt like I was living in a world that wasn’t quite built for me. I’d rather walk barefoot in the forest than hit the mall. I cry when I see animal abuse. I’d choose an ancient stone circle over a nightclub, every time.
Maybe you get it. Maybe you know what it’s like to feel a little (or a lot) out of place.
We live in a world that often praises conformity but punishes difference. And when your truth is soft, intuitive, mystical, or magical—it can feel downright alienating. People nod politely, but their eyes glaze over and they back away slowly. Or worse, they tell you to “get your head out of the clouds.” A good friend even told me I was delusional when I mentioned faeries—but I’ve seen them and I wouldn’t want to live in a world without them.
In fact, I wouldn’t trade this path for anything.
Because being different isn’t a flaw—it’s a gift.
Celebrate Your Weirdness!
The way us mystical weirdos see the world—through nuance, through energy, through layers of spirit and symbol—is exactly what Earth needs right now. And I’ve come to believe that being weird (in the best way) is actually a kind of initiation. It strips away the noise and anchors us to what’s real.
Still, being on the edge of the “norm” can get lonely. That’s why I created Faehallows School of Magic, and why I cherish my magical community more than words can express.
In my New Earth community, I’m not “too sensitive” or “too much.” I’m just me. And so are you. We know that faeries aren’t a metaphor. That Earth is sacred. And the old ways are alive. We honor our weirdness as wisdom.
So if you’ve ever felt like you don’t belong, maybe it’s because you’re not meant to fit in—you’re meant to belong to the New Earth.
